Business Coaching With Dr. Jessica
How To Know If Dr. Jessica Is The Right Fit? Read Her Story:
How many of you have felt burnt out at your job, unfulfilled in your career, or unsure of where to focus your energy to feel like you’re doing what you were meant to do?
I have been there. I’ve experienced it all.
Like many fellow physical therapists, I felt a calling to the field after decades playing sports, having my fair share of injuries, and going through a very intense stint in physical therapy after suffering a knee fracture while playing lacrosse. During this last round of rehab, I realized how influential my PT was not only with my physical healing, but also with my mental and emotional recovery. I was fortunate enough that this PT happened to be my basketball and lacrosse coach so she had known me well for years and gave me the best attention, support and guidance I could have asked for from a rehab professional.
Fast forward a few years after college, PT school and residency, I began taking on the role of clinic manager at an orthopedic clinic in central Austin, just down the street from the University of Texas. For a while it was fun. My co-workers were the best, our patients offered a variety of injuries, surgeries, and goals to work with, and the docs who referred to us were great.
But this new role also exposed me to the realness of physical therapy, and healthcare, in the U.S. Our meetings revolved around productivity, revenue numbers, insurance reimbursement changes, etc and it was disheartening to realize I really had very little control over my style of care and what I wanted to provide to my patients.
After a few years of growing awareness to the “reactive” state of healthcare, the inability to truly connect 1:1 with many clients, and getting burnt out in a corporate setting, I was searching for an understanding of why I was dreading going to work in the career that I had felt so sure about throughout my teenage years and college studies.
Through self-exploration, a 2-week long trip to Italy, and some solid google research, I discovered there was a thing called cash based physical therapy, it could work, and it may be the path I was searching for to regain my love of working with clients in our healthcare system as there was SO MUCH MORE to life than being miserable at a job, and I needed out!
Over the next 4 months I continued learning all I could, started putting onto paper my vision, and knew exactly when the time was right to put in my resignation, take a leap of faith, and force my type-A self to be ok with not knowing exactly what the future would bring. I signed up for a business coaching course, listened to ALL the podcasts, and started slowly opening my eyes (& ears) more and more to the world of entrepreneurship.
I will not sugar coat this. It. Was. Hard.
Sooo many long days, late nights, frustrated outbursts at technology that didn’t make sense, and a few “omg, what did I do” moments. But I honestly looked at my alternatives: go back to my ortho clinic, do home health, or change my career, and knew that I had multiple plans to fall back on if needed. However, I truly couldn’t picture myself ever working for someone else again. And within 3.5 months of treating my own cash-paying clients, I had surpassed my monthly income from my previous job and knew there was no looking back.
I continued to grind, grew my practice, hired my first administrative assistant, then my first PT, and felt so confident and excited for the future. Then, 2020 and Covid-19 became a thing. Talk about another gut-wrenching, fear induced realization as I cancelled $1000+ worth of clients in a few days and made the announcement that my clinic was shutting down until further notice.
This turned into 2 months.
I went from having the most profitable quarter to date to the lowest grossing month since the first quarter I had started.
Honestly, from a business and personal growth standpoint, shutting down was one of the biggest blessings in disguise. I rerouted all my efforts to online services, grew an IG following, made real connections to others in the small business self-employment world through a mastermind program, hired a great business coach and PACE finished 2020 grossing more money and helping more people around the world than we had in 2019!
The money is cool and all, but the real gift I received was working with so many other beautiful souls around the world and hearing about their experiences in their countries during such a life-changing pandemic. These were real people. They were in Chile, Germany, India, Mexico, Dubai, Australia, etc and on paper were all so different. Yet we were all dealing with our own version of the same thing and it was so empowering knowing I was in a position to help make this stressful time a bit better for at least one other person out there.
I continued to hire and grow my team. We expanded our business services both in-person and online. I took on a consulting gig with Emily Skye Fitness to better connect with other women around the world looking for health and fitness encouragement and education. I also was a guest on multiple podcast episodes sharing my story to help provide encouragement to others that were where I had been, burnt out and looking for change.
And again, my vision for the future evolved. I knew the best way to continue helping others around the world was to work with fellow clinicians and wellness professionals who had higher aspirations than working “for the man”. I had learned SO MUCH valuable information from my own business journey and working with my coaches and I wanted to share with other deserving healthcare pros how to make their dreams become reality, not only for their well-being but because this is the only way to reach thousands of deserving people around the world that may benefit from working with someone devoted to their health.
So, my question to you is this:
Are you sick of feeling burnt out from your job?
Are you hustling wayyy too hard trying to build your own business but not seeing the progress?
Do you know you are truly capable of more- more fulfillment, more presence for your family, more impact?
If ANY of this speaks to you- this is where I come in. I empathize with you. I’ve been there.
Feeling all the emotions.
Working with so many of my own coaches and mentors.
Making all the mistakes and learning what is worth hiring someone else to do vs what is worth knowing how to do yourself.
This is why I truly feel I can connect with you, help you bring to fruition your vision for your future, and guide you in taking the right steps, efficiently, to get you to your dream life. I provide tools and guidance to help healthcare entrepreneurs clarify their message, scale their business, and create a successful plan that prioritizes time freedom while creating a positive impact for their community .
My zone of genius when coaching: time management, organization, social media marketing and helping my clients find their inner flow to scale their businesses past multi-6 figures without burning out!
There IS support out there for you. My biggest piece of advice: invest in someone you trust that is where YOU want to be, doing the things YOU want to be doing.
Serious about committing to YOURSELF and learning more about how I can help?
